This general contractor specializing in commercial construction is looking for a site superintendent to complete their team.

The site superintendent will be responsible for coordinating the smooth running of the sites (availability of equipment and work of subcontractors) by ensuring that the negotiated plans and schedules are respected. In this regard, this person will have to act and think to be constantly ahead of potential problems in order to avoid them as well as represent the company on the site and maintain a positive work climate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration (20% of your work)

- Familiarize yourself with the plan to be able to explain to each subcontractor their responsibilities;
- If the project has already been built, go and see the final product to better understand the project;
- Occasionally, make or redo quantity calculations;
- Find materials and, if necessary, pick up materials;
- Make the necessary additions to the plans for the smooth running of the project;
- Plan the work of subcontractors and constantly readjust during the construction period;
- Ensure, through monitoring the daily work, that negotiated plans and deadlines are respected;
- If necessary, validate the specifications with the client or its representative (architect) during construction;
- Discuss the progress of the work with the project manager on a daily basis and ask for his support as needed;
- Keep a binder with detailed information on the work done daily (daytime report - hours - schedule by subcontractor) and contacts for the day;
- Participate in weekly site meetings.

Site coordination (80% of the work)

- Trace the construction of the walls, openings and recesses on the floor. Judge compliance with plans. Point out errors or concerns to the client (architect);
- Draw the furniture plan or wall specifications. Judge compliance with plans and point out errors or concerns to the project authority;
- Ensure close monitoring of the work of each subcontractor. Have adjustments made as needed.
- Manage priorities;
- Find creative solutions when unforeseen problems arise;
- Keep the work area clean;
- Manage all the subcontractor managers under your responsibility (construction site).

You will have to:

- Communicate expectations effectively;
- Carry out the necessary follow-ups;
- Evaluate individual outcomes;
- Give feedback;
- Take the necessary steps to rectify situations that do not meet expectations if necessary (arrangement with the person in charge of subcontractors for another resource);
- Maintain a positive work environment;
- Enforce occupational safety and health rules on a daily basis;
- Ensure the safety of equipment in the workplace;
- Perform all other tasks related to the smooth running of the company's operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- College diploma in architectural technology or equivalent experience;
- 2 to 5 years of experience in site coordination;
- Versatility of construction skills (generalist);
- Ability to work long hours (availability);
- Good French and English (oral).

A consortium of major engineering and construction companies is seeking an individual to oversee all human resources operations on its construction sites in the Greater Montreal area. You will be responsible for providing strategic and operational advice to all managers while supporting and guiding project and construction staff. Four (4) days a week, you will split your time between the downtown office and various construction sites in Montreal. Access to a personal vehicle is required for commuting. You will have the option to work from home one day a week.

You will also be called upon to advise, support, accompany and guide managers in the context of various situations affecting the management of their human resources. The goal is to be a key and trusted partner in supporting the efficiency of operations. You will be responsible for providing support and advice to all employees in the context of their employment and development within the project. You will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:
- Exercise a strategic and operational advisory role with the management team while offering support and advice to all project employees;
- Provide leadership and effective human resources operation for the entire project while ensuring coordination with the overall project alignment;
- Contribute to the project strategy by helping leaders identify and prioritize needs to ensure that they build their organizational capacity in line with the project schedule in addition to ensuring that they have the processes and programs required for the effective operation of their human resources;
- Supervise and support managers in employee and union relations, as well as in workforce planning, recruitment, compensation, performance management and organizational change, respect for project values, HR processes and procedures, organizational culture development and various communications;
- Support the project team in the deployment of projects, programs and processes, human capital and integrity and in the establishment of a productive and respectful organizational culture and climate;
- Ensure, with the support of the labour relations officer, the respect, application and interpretation of the collective agreement and labour laws, participate in the resolution of grievances and disputes;
- Ensure the follow-up of the code of good conduct in business, processes and policies human capital;
- Conduct various investigations and accompany managers in meetings with employees;
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and perform HR transactions required for the project.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in industrial relations or human resources combined with a minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience as an HR generalist in a unionized or non-unionized environment;
- Recognized problem-solving skills, analytical, collaborative and teamwork skills;
- Ability to manage various projects and mandates while ensuring operational HR management;
- Recognized and proactive leadership in identifying the HR needs required to support operations and achieve strategic objectives;
- Be recognized for building trusting interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization;
- Autonomy, ability to work with minimal supervision and ease of prioritization;
- Be client-oriented, able to work in collaboration with management and influence management in the direction and decision making for the good of the organization as a whole;
- Excellent judgment, discernment, discretion, listening and business skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Experience as an HR generalist in the construction field - an asset;
- Experience in managing health and safety and disability files - an asset;
- Member of the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals - an asset.
